Amino acids

Amino acids

In the human organism, proteins form the main component of organic macromolecules. Around 50,000 different proteins act as essential structural and functional carriers for all life processes. The basic building blocks of proteins are L-amino acids. L-leucine, L-valine and L-isoleucine are branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) and are essential for humans. Accordingly, the organism is dependent on an exogenous supply. L-aspartic acid, L-alanine, L-cysteine, glycine L-histidine, L-proline, L-serine, L-cystine are called proteinogenic amino acids. Dietary protein is broken down by digestive processes into individual amino acids, which are available to the body for building endogenous proteins.
